Dads Army

I have finally finished the dads army box set from Warlord Games

They are cracking little figures and I think they capture the characters from the TV series! Not sure my painting is up to the level of the sculpting but they do look the part.

There was a lot of black to paint and hopefully I haven't over done it, its way too easy to grey it down to much. I'm not sure about the bases they dont quite look right! but hopefully the focus is on the figures rather than the base's.
So thanks for looking

Perry Miniatures French Dragoons

So more plastics to post! I love Napoleonics and have done ever since I had hundreds of them when I was a kid. I struggle painting them massively, I'm not sure why but I do! So I am rather proud of finally finishing up my 2nd French Dragoons, I botched the green abit, but other than that I'm more than happy.
They are not 100% accurate, I normally mess something up so no change there! I did spot after I had taken the photos I had missed the brass trim off the one of the figures helmet peak. No prizes for getting it right! OK its the guy  with the flag!
The dismounted figures are still waiting to be painted but I've made a start which I'm happy with, and hopefully I can keep up the momentum and crack a few more out before I grind to a halt again!
So thanks for looking

Longstreet

I have added another command stand to my ACW collection, this time its General Longstreet
Sharing the base with another cracking figure from Dixon minis I think its turned out rather well. Longstreet was another southern gentleman who loved his state and the southern way of life.
If Lee had listened to him could Gettysburg of had a different outcome, I know history is full of what if's and maybe's. Lee was not one for running from a fight and Gettysburg presented him just that! Longstreet seemed hesitant! Did he see the outcome just like Beuford had seen if he didn't stop the Rebels taking the high ground.
so thanks for dropping by and hopefully I will post more goodies real soon!
So thanks for looking cheers for now Russ

Warlords Panthers & Panzer IV finished

I have made some inroads to finishing up bits and pieces that I have taking up space in my hobby room! The Panzer IV took abit more finishing up than the Panthers but I have tried to keep a cohesive look to them
The commander figure is nicely done, and a vast improvement on the figure included in the Panther kit.
Other than that I'm more than happy with the end results, and although the photos aren't the best I'm pretty chuffed with the overall look of all three.

So what next? I'm not really sure it could be virtually anything, I do have a few things to finish up!
So thanks for looking

Warlord Games Praetorian Guard

I'm a fickle painter, I always have being! I can be butterfly minded as my wife calls me. From one day to the next my interests can change, so here are my latest additions.
It's not involved a lot of work to finish these guys up, mainly finishing up bits and pieces paintwork wise, and then basing them. I'm planning on selling these on after they have had a spell in my local shops window.
They are nice figures and I still have some more to paint but I need to clear some room, so helping my local shop promote Warlord Games of which he is a stockist! Gives me a win win scenario, he continues to stock stuff which I would normally have to order in, and I may be able sell a few bits and pieces to help finance my next project. Well thats the plan. So thanks for looking

Dads Army

I have finally finished my first batch of Dads Army box set characters
Even ARP Warden Hodges is included, both in uniform and civilian dress! Well grocers overall. They are cracking little figures and my painting doesn't do them justice.
Napoleon "Mainwaring" looks a little slim from the front but he has the structure from the side. Pike looks ready to mow down any and all on comers with his tommy gun. Private walker has a crafety fag and lance-corporal Jones is ready with his bayonet. Godfrey looks ready with tea and sympathy and if all else fails an asprin. Frazer's eye brows almost scream we're doomed! And of course Uncle Arthur or Sergeant Wilson that is if your not private pike. I've tried to paint them true to the series, I'm more than happy with the results!
The photos hopefully give a reasonable account of these little fellas! I didn't really watch Dads Army while I was growing up but maybe that was a good thing! I get to enjoy the show even more now.
so thanks for looking and hopefully i should be posting again real soon

Warlord Games Panthers

My Panthers are well on the way to being finished! Its being my first bash on using my Airbrush, a prezzie from my better half bless her. I'm happy with the results for my first attempt, I still have a long way to go but its a start
I have also made a second attempt at camouflage netting, which I can happily say is better than my first attempt! Hopefully with a bit more tweaking I will have it nailed and be in a position to do a tutorial!
I still have a bit of damage, muck and dirt to add, the tracks need finishing off and I have a commander to paint.
For easy to build kits they paint up pretty neat and look the part, they arn't quite in Tamiyas league but not having too many parts to put together is a God send in the time stakes, and it means less parts to break off with my clumsy hands. The Panzer iv is still under construction but its also a cracking kit and hopefully it should make an appearance before the new year!
 So thanks for looking
